Demand Forecasting and Weather Normalization

The ability to accurately and consistently forecast energy demand is increasingly important. Load forecasting methods have become valuable tools for utilities to measure the impacts of evolving load reduction initiatives, such as innovative pricing and demand response programs.

Review of Peak Load Forecasts for Multi-State RTO


A review of analytical methodology and forecasts of peak load in 18 service area zones was undertaken by members of The Brattle Group. Included in the review was analysis of the aggregate footprint of a large regional transmission organization that serves a population of 51 million. Alternative specifications were tested and improvements were recommended.
