Biography

Dr. Reitzes' fields of expertise are antitrust and competition, regulatory economics, and international trade. He offers expert economic analyses in litigation and regulatory proceedings in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. A former Federal Trade Commission economist, Dr. Reitzes has substantial experience in antitrust and competition issues affecting a variety of industries.

Dr. Reitzes has been involved in regulatory matters in the energy, transportation, and telecommunications sectors before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Federal Communications Commission, and state commissions. Besides representing private-sector clients, Dr. Reitzes has provided expert consulting services to the Competition Bureau of the Government of Canada, the Directorate General for Antitrust of the European Union, and the World Bank.

His experience includes competitive analyses of mergers and acquisitions subject to Hart-Scott-Rodino review; assessments of liability and damages in cases of alleged price fixing; designing of market-monitoring mechanisms, transitional regulation, and optimal tariff structures in the electricity, natural gas, and ocean shipping industries; estimates of damages in patent infringement actions; and assessments of the economic impact of alleged unfair trade practices. Dr. Reitzes has written numerous articles on optimal strategies with respect to prices, output, R&D, and quality choice, and has published in leading economic and legal journals.
