Brattle Consultants to Lead CLE Webcast Examining Georgia Pacific Factors for Determining Reasonable Royalties

Brattle principal Kevin Neels and senior associate Nathan Barczi will be presenting during the upcoming West LegalEdcenter webcast, “Rewriting the Georgia Pacific Factors,” taking place February 19, 2013 at 12:00PM EST.

Although a long-established, well-accepted and useful framework to determine a reasonable royalty for providing appropriate compensation in patent infringement cases, the guidance the Georgia Pacific factors framework sets forth sometimes seems duplicative, and is not always clearly worded or provided in the most logical order. The webcast analyzes the factors in light of the fundamental economic relationships between the patent owner and the accused infringer. The presentation will examine the key economic issues that have been considered in determining reasonable royalties, explain how those issues are reflected in the Georgia Pacific factors, and provide a simplified framework based on these issues for presenting the results of a Georgia Pacific analysis in a trial setting.

Drs. Neels and Barczi will be speaking alongside Jason Choy of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. For more information, or to register for the webcast, please visit the West LegalEdcenter website.
