Brattle Consultants to Present at the Center for Research in Regulated Industries’ Annual Eastern Conference

Brattle principal Jim Reitzes and senior associate Sanem Sergici will present research papers at the 31st Annual Eastern Conference, hosted by the Center for Research in Regulated Industries (CRRI) at Rutgers University. The conference, taking place May 16, 2012 at Shawnee on Delaware, PA, will bring together industry economists, attorneys, consultants, marketing and regulatory managers, and regulatory commission staff to discuss the latest developments in policy, regulatory, postal, and telecommunications issues. Dr. Reitzes’ paper, “Competitive Effects of Exchanges or Sales of Airport Landing Slots,” analyzes how increases in the concentration of landing slot holdings across airlines affect route selection, air fares, consumer welfare, and social welfare. Brattle associate Nick Powers, research analyst Brendan McVeigh, and Sam Moy co-authored the research paper. Dr. Sergici’s paper, “Realizing the Distributed Generation Potential,” explores the potential benefits of distributed generation due to developments in smart grid technology. Dr. Sergici’s paper was co-authored by Brattle principals Frank Graves and Ahmad Faruqui.
