Brattle Principal Ahmad Faruqui Participates at Smart Grid Conference Co-Hosted by California Governor’s Office

Brattle principal Ahmad Faruqui has recently participated at the conference “More Than Smart: Making the Grid More Transparent, Dynamic, and Resilient,” which was co-hosted by the Office of the Governor of California and took place on September 10, 2013 in Palo Alto, CA.

The invitation-only program featured prominent thought leaders to discuss new opportunities arising from the convergence of new communication technologies and California’s energy structure. Specifically, the conference explored the changes that are needed in order for consumers to have real-time information to manage their use of energy, as well as the mix of incentives that can encourage greater energy efficiency, increased distributed generation, and greater responsiveness to system needs. Participants also discussed the ways in which California can ensure the reliability, resiliency, and effective use of electricity supplies.

Dr. Faruqui participated during the panel discussion, “Incentives for Energy Action.” The session discussed the types of incentives that can be offered to encourage greater energy efficiency, increased distributed generation, and greater responsiveness to system needs.
