Brattle Principal Ahmad Faruqui Presents at National Town Meeting on Demand Response and Smart Grid

Brattle principal Ahmad Faruqui presented on dynamic pricing at the National Town Meeting on Demand Response and Smart Grid, which took place June 26-28, 2012 in Washington, DC. Hosted by the Association for Demand Response & Smart Grid (ADS), the National Town Meeting is the premier conference in the U.S. focused on the business and policy aspects of demand response, including its technologies and applications. The conference features roundtable and panel discussions comprised of experts in demand response and smart grid exploring the latest industry trends, issues, and business developments. Dr. Faruqui served as a panelist during a session on time-based pricing and how it can drive demand response. Dr. Faruqui’s presentation provided evidence to disprove three common criticisms of dynamic pricing: 1) customers won’t respond to dynamic pricing; 2) customer response to price signals won’t persist; and 3) low-income customers will be negatively impacted by dynamic pricing.
