Brattle Principal Coleman Bazelon Participates in Bloomberg BNA Webinar on Spectrum Auctions

Brattle Principal Coleman Bazelon recently participated in a Bloomberg BNA webinar on “Spectrum Auctions Are Back: What You Need to Know.” In January 2014, the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) held its first auction of spectrum since 2008. The FCC’s auction of the 1900 MHz PCS “H Block” marked the unofficial start of an ambitious era of selling the public’s airwaves to the highest bidder. According to Bloomberg BNA, the FCC will auction off another 25 MHz of spectrum later this year, following the H Block auction. The FCC will work closely with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to facilitate the sharing of spectrum between federal government agencies and commercial users of spectrum.

This webinar featured leading experts on spectrum policy who analyzed the results of the H Block auction and discussed its possible impact on the FCC’s spectrum policy broadly and also the wireless and high-tech industries. Other participants included Jennifer Fritzsche, Wells Fargo Securities; Angela E. Giancarlo, Mayer Brown LLP; and Trey Hanbury, Hogan Lovells.
