Brattle Principal Frank Graves to Present at Ninth Annual National Conference on Current Issues in Electric Utility Rate Cases

Brattle principal Frank Graves has been invited to participate in “The Ninth Annual National Conference on Current Issues in Electric Utility Rate Cases,” hosted by Law Seminars International (LSI) and taking place February 21-22, 2013 in Las Vegas, NV.

The current ratemaking environment for regulated gas and electric companies is challenging for regulators, utilities, customer groups, and those who represent them. Environmental requirements, aging infrastructures, new generation and transmission projects, smart grid issues, greenhouse gas emissions, and other challenges ensure a steady stream of new and increasingly complex rate case filings. This conference will bring together lawyers, industry experts, and government officials to help energy professional understand how these issues are affecting cost recovery, rate setting, and the rate case process.

Mr. Graves will present on “Implications of Utilities Switching to Heavy Reliance on Natural Gas: Will Prices Stay Low or Spike Up?” on the first day of the conference. He will discuss gas development trends and market realities; specifically, the focus of his session will be on how long natural gas prices can be counted on to remain at historic lows and, if not for long, what the implications will be. Further, he will discuss the issues that state commissions should be considering in developing ratemaking policies.
