Brattle Principals to Present at the 15th Annual POWER Research Conference
Three Brattle principals will present at the 15th Annual POWER Research Conference on March 18, 2010 in Berkeley, California. Hosted by the University of California Energy Institute's Center for the Study of Energy Markets (CSEM), this conference gathers scholars and practitioners from around the world to exchange ideas and research results on topics related to electricity markets and regulation. Judy Chang and Jürgen Weiss, principals in The Brattle Group’s Cambridge, MA office, will present their paper, “Using Storage to Capture Renewables: Does Size Matter?,” co-authored with Brattle associate Kathleen Spees. Using data from one U.S. region as a starting point and moving toward systems with substantial additional wind capacity, they examine the characteristics of a storage system that would be needed to capture all the wind energy generated from an increasing level of wind capacity. They will also examine a system entirely powered by wind. Ahmad Faruqui, a principal in Brattle's San Francisco office, will participate in the session on "Consumer Response to Retail Electricity Pricing."
