Brattle Senior Associate Pallavi Seth to Present Webinar on Public Interest Cases at the International Trade Commission

Brattle senior associate Pallavi Seth will present during a webinar hosted by the American Bar Association (ABA) on “Making a Public Interest Case at the International Trade Commission,” taking place Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 1:00 pm – 2:30pm EST.

The number of Section 337 investigations has increased dramatically in recent years, and many have involved products of great interest to the general public, such as cell phones, computers, and other electronic consumer devices. As a result, there has been increased focus on the “public interest analysis,” requiring the Commission to take into account public interest factors in determining whether to issue a remedy after a finding of violation.

This webinar will bring together legal experts to examine the Section 337 public interest analysis. The program will cover a number of topics including: an overview of Section 337 and the four public interest factors; a discussion of past Commission decisions: legal and economic principles; the economic view of intellectual property enforcement and the public interest; key legal and economic factors of central importance to making a public interest case; the balancing act: IPR protection v. public interest; and SEPs and public interest.
