Brattle Senior Consultant Shaun Ledgerwood to Speak on Wholesale Energy Markets at Platts European Gas and Power Trading Conference

Brattle senior consultant Shaun Ledgerwood will present at the inaugural Platts European Gas and Power Trading Conference, taking place June 26-27, 2013 in London.

The two-day conference, designed specifically for Europe’s commodity trading, exchange, gas, and utility communities, will feature presentations and discussions from leading experts focused on the key issues currently facing gas and power markets. These issues include: contractual developments and the ongoing issue of oil indexation of gas pricing versus gas priced at hubs; the challenges and opportunities associated with cross border trading; as well as an update on the progress towards a single European wholesale power market, power price drivers and an examination of market liquidity.

Dr. Ledgerwood will present during the session, “The Regulation on Wholesale Energy Markets Integrity and Transparency (REMIT) at just over one year on,” which will take a closer look at market manipulation in energy markets and the enforcement of REMIT. Dr. Ledgerwood will also serve as a panelist during the panel session, “Can we still say we have a free market with all these subsidies?” The session will explore whether policy interventions threaten a liberalized market, as well as the challenges of integrating energy generated from renewable sources into wholesale electricity markets.
