Lisa Cameron to Participate in Federal Circuit Bar Association Event on Reasonable Royalty Patent Damages

Lisa Cameron will be a panelist at the upcoming Federal Circuit Bar Association (FCBA) event, “Is Georgia Pacific Still Alive?” taking place on November 6, 2016 in Washington, DC.

The event will address the Georgia-Pacific factors, or the “hypothetical negotiation” approach, for determining reasonable royalty patent damages. The Georgia-Pacific approach, arising from the 1970 case Georgia-Pacific Corp. v. U.S. Plywood Corp, has remained the primary standard for determining a “reasonable royalty.”

Dr. Cameron and her co-panelist will discuss whether these factors are still alive today and if they continue to lead to fair and realistic results, or if there are perhaps other methodologies for determining patent damages that would be better suited in an age of innovation.
