Principal Ahmad Faruqui Participates in Kansas Electric Rate-Making Policy Summit

Brattle Principal Ahmad Faruqui recently participated in the Electric Rate-Making Policy Summit, which took place November 14th at the Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas at Lawrence.

Hosted and organized by Kansas Representative Tom Sloan, the Summit featured participation from nearly 50 electric utility representatives, Kansas Corporation Commission staff members, representatives from the Citizens’ Utility Ratepayer Board, and executives from large electric consumers. The program was one of the first in the nation where utilities, regulators, customers, customer advocates, and policymakers came together to discuss how technology, costs, and public/customer energy preferences intersect in the area of energy efficiency.

Dr. Faruqui appeared on behalf of Westar Energy and shared rate design perspectives from around the country. Pricing electricity for distributed generation and renewable energy resources were key topics of discussion.
