Principal Ahmad Faruqui Participates in Peak Load Management Alliance’s Demand Response Dialogue

Brattle Principal Ahmad Faruqui recently participated in the Peak Load Management Alliance’s (PLMA) Demand Response Dialogue, “What Does it Take to Succeed in Dynamic Pricing,” a webinar that took place December 5, 2013 at 12:30 pm EST.

The discussion provided insights into Oklahoma Gas and Electric’s (OGE) experience with implementing dynamic pricing for residential consumers to offset peak load requirements, and how their full-scale program deployment compares with other utility programs worldwide. The conversation also examined how dynamic pricing incentivizes electricity customers to lower usage during peak times, how to move beyond pilot programs, and how OGE’s experiences compare with other large and small private and public power utilities.

Dr. Faruqui interviewed Mr. Mike Farrell, OGE’s Manager of Customer Programs and leader of their dynamic pricing program. Mr. Farrell shared the lessons learned from OGE’s rollout of their program and Dr. Faruqui placed OGE’s program in a global perspective by sharing some of his personal experiences.
