Principal Kevin Neels to Participate at Transportation Research Board’s 89th Annual Meeting on January 11, 2010

Kevin Neels, a principal in Brattle’s Washington, DC office, will participate in the Transportation Research Board’s Annual Meeting in Washington, DC on January 10-14, 2010. The conference covers all transportation modes, with nearly 600 sessions addressing topics of interest to policy makers, administrators, practitioners, researchers, and representatives of government, industry, and academic institutions. The spotlight theme for 2010 is “Investing in Our Transportation Future – BOLD Ideas to Meet BIG Challenges.” Dr. Neels will present on the economics of rail safety. His presentation will focus on the role of market failures in creating safety problems, and will explore the efficiency and safety implications of rules for allocating accident liability costs between railroads and shippers.
