Principal Shaun Ledgerwood to Present at LSI Conference on Buying and Selling Electric Power in the West

Brattle Principal Shaun Ledgerwood has been invited to present at Law Seminars International’s (LSI) upcoming conference, “Buying and Selling Electric Power in the West,” taking place January 13 – 14, 2014 in Seattle, WA.

The two-day conference will explore the shift in the United States from a net energy importer to an increased producer of domestic oil and natural gas, and will discuss the proposals to export coal and liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Pacific Northwest ports. These proposals have generated significant public controversy, including the potential for job creation vs. increased greenhouse gas emissions, traffic congestion due to increased rail traffic, and degraded local air quality. Conference participants will discuss the macroeconomics of domestic and foreign supply and demand, the role of government bodies in the project approval process, issues surrounding transporting energy by rail and pipeline, and the role the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) will play.

Dr. Ledgerwood will present during the conference session, “Market Manipulation and Enforcement.” He will discuss lessons from recent high-profile enforcement actions involving JP Morgan, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, and others. Dr. Ledgerwood will present alongside Stan Berman, Esq. of Sidley Austin LLP and Sean K. Collins of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
