William Zarakas to Present at the 2014 Summer Meeting of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners

Brattle principal William Zarakas has been selected to participate in a panel discussion at the upcoming Summer Committee Meetings of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), taking place on July 13-16, 2014 in Dallas, TX.

Mr. Zarakas will present during the joint meeting of the Electricity Committee and Critical Infrastructure Committee in a panel session titled, “Deciding to Invest in Resiliency.” The discussion will be moderated by the Honorable Jeffrey Goltz and will address the recent report by the U.S. Government’s Accountability Office, “Climate Change: Energy Infrastructure Risks and Adaption Efforts,” which profiled efforts by four companies to make their operations more resilient to extreme weather events. Mr. Zarakas will describe what utility companies have done to protect their infrastructure from such weather events, focusing on the criteria and processes they used in making those investments.

The NARUC conference brings together utility regulators from every state in the U.S., along with federal and international officials, to discuss the latest regulatory trends and best practices.
