Yingxia Yang to Present at University of Texas Workshop on the Impact of the EPA’s Proposed Clean Power Plan Rules on Texas

Brattle associate Yingxia Yang will present in the upcoming workshop, “EPA’s Proposed Clean Power Plan Rules: Economic Modeling and Effects on the Electric Reliability Council of Texas Region,” co-hosted by the Central Texas Association for Energy Economics and the Energy Institute at the University of Texas at Austin. The workshop will take place April 8, 2015 in Austin, TX.

This event will address the technical aspects of implementing the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed 111(d) rulemaking, which would limit greenhouse gas emissions from existing fossil fuel power plants under Section 111(d) of the Clean Air Act. If enacted, there will be significant implications for the economy and the environment both in Texas and across the U.S.

Dr. Yang will present the results of Brattle’s recent scenario analysis in which Brattle consultants completed a series of simulations of the future of the ERCOT electricity marketplace through 2032, resulting in a similar carbon emission reduction as what is required by the Clean Power Plan.
