Yvette Austin Smith to Speak on Complex Commercial Valuation Panel at the American Bankruptcy Institute’s 22nd Annual Northeast Conference

Brattle principal Yvette Austin Smith will participate in a panel discussion on complex commercial valuation at the American Bankruptcy Institute’s 22nd Annual Northeast Conference, taking place July 9-12, 2015 in North Falmouth, MA.

Ms. Austin Smith will discuss various issues that arise when determining value in a business chapter 11 case, such as the possible approaches to valuation (discounted cash flow, comparable company) and how to reconcile the values. The panel will explain how the purpose of valuation can affect the methodology selection and discuss some of the common places to probe when challenging a valuation. Lastly, Ms. Austin Smith and her co-panelists will discuss the standard of value and premise of value, and the implications on the valuation assignment.
