Brattle Academic Advisor Josh Lerner Interviewed for Pensions & Investments Article on Private Equity Database

Brattle academic advisor Josh Lerner, the Jacob H. Schiff Professor of Investment Banking at Harvard Business School, was recently interviewed for a Pensions & Investments article on a set of independent research databases he is developing to advance understanding of private capital and its economic and investment impact.

The article, “Harvard’s Lerner pushing transparency in private equity,” discusses the progress made by Dr. Lerner and the Boston-based firm, Private Capital Research Institute (PCRI), in developing two extensive academic databases (one at the fund level and one at the transaction level) for research on private equity. The databases seek to make high-quality data available to a broad pool of academics, increasing the amount of industry knowledge available to academics and practitioners alike. By creating a high-quality academic database, and making it widely available to scholars, the PCRI hopes to provide access to graduate students and younger scholars, who typically introduce many of the fresh ideas into fields.
