Brattle Principal Coleman Bazelon Testifies before California Public Utilities Commission on AT&T’s Proposed Acquisition of T-Mobile

Brattle principal Coleman Bazelon provided testimony on July 22, 2011 at a hearing before the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) on the pending merger of two of the nation’s wireless carriers, AT&T and T-Mobile USA. His testimony is part of a CPUC investigation into the proposed merger of AT&T and T-Mobile and its effects on California’s economy and the state’s consumers. In his testimony, Dr. Bazelon discussed how the proposed merger will provide a robust wireless network that will allow greater wireless capacity, spur technological innovation, and support economic growth for the nation, as well as the state of California. According to Dr. Bazelon, these effects will support the innovative culture of California, bridge the gap between rural communities and modernized cities, and “will genuinely improve the quality of service to all consumers, including California consumers.”
