Dr. Hinchey specializes in the empirical analysis of complex economics and finance-related matters in the energy industry. She has extensive consulting experience with commercial disputes, market manipulation, antitrust, and regulatory policy.

With respect to commercial disputes, Dr. Hinchey has a wide range of experience estimating damages and assessing the value of commodities in contract price disputes. Her work in market manipulation includes the analysis of alleged manipulations of benchmark prices in the natural gas industry. For her work in antitrust and competition, Dr. Hinchey has estimated market concentration and analyzed the competitive effects of potential mergers. She has also worked on multiple engagements before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), including on market-based rates and business risk cases.

Dr. Hinchey’s research has been published by academic journals and the popular press. She has been invited to speak and moderate panels at several academic conferences. While a graduate student, Dr. Hinchey’s research received best student paper awards at multiple academic conferences.
