Dr. Maydew is Chair of the Accounting Area, Director of Research at the UNC Tax Center, and the David E. Hoffman Term Professor of Accounting at the University of North Carolina.
His research interests include both tax and accounting and he consults on a variety of complex tax and accounting matters. He is coauthor of Taxes and Business Strategy: A Planning Approach.
He has published in the top journals in his field, including The Accounting Review, the Journal of Accounting and Economics, the Journal of Accounting Research, the Journal of Public Economics, the National Tax Journal, and Journal of the American Taxation Association. He has served as an associate editor of the Journal of Accounting and Economics and on the editorial boards of The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies, and The Journal of the American Taxation Association. Dr. Maydew has received a number of awards for excellence in research and teaching, including being listed by Businessweek as one of the best professors at his school in three separate biannual surveys.
