Brattle Principal Florin Dorobantu will speak on new valuation methods at the 8th Annual Damages in International Arbitration Conference: Traditional vs. Non-Traditional Approaches, Emerging Trends, Methods, and Techniques, which will be held November 19 at Baker McKenzie’s New York office.

Dr. Dorobantu will join the panel “New Developments – The Use of Real World Option Models and Other Alternatives/Evolutions of ‘Traditional’ DCF.” The panel will look at emerging non-traditional valuation methods as alternatives to more traditional discounted cash flow (DCF) methods. The discussion will feature the groundbreaking $6 billion award issued in in Tethyan Copper Company Ltd v. Pakistan, in which the tribunal measured damages in an investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) using the “modern” DCF method.
