Brattle principal Paul Carpenter has been invited to speak at the Energy in Alaska Conference hosted by Law Seminars International (LSI), taking place December 3-4, 2012 in Anchorage, Alaska. This two-day conference will address the outlook for stemming production declines in North Slope oil, the emerging futures for oil and gas development in the Alaska Outer Continental Shelf (OCS), and the current status of projects designed to market gas from the Alaska North Slope, both outside and inside the state. The conference will also examine energy projects in the Railbelt, Alaska’s plans for dealing with Cook Inlet gas declines, and the steps being taken to reduce the costs of energy in other parts of the state. Dr. Carpenter will speak on “The Future for Alaska North Slope Oil and Natural Gas.” Specifically, he will discuss liquid natural gas in the context of the investment climate for North Slope oil as well as the prospects for new legislative action on oil taxes.
