Brattle Consultants to Present at Center for Research in Regulated Industries Annual Western Conference

Several consultants from The Brattle Group are slated to present at the Center for Research in Regulated Industries (CRRI) Annual Western Conference, taking place June 15-17 in Monterey, California. The conference will focus on recent developments in network industries, including energy, and particularly matters related to deregulation, regulatory issues, and demand response. Armando Levy, a senior associate at Brattle, will co-present “Diffusion with Dueling Platforms: Technology Spillovers in the Cable-Telco Broadband Race,” which will discuss market and regulatory determinants of intra- and inter-platform diffusion. Brattle principal Ahmad Faruqui and senior associate Sanem Sergici will be presenting on the “Impact Evaluation of Consumers Energy’s Experiment with Dynamic Pricing,” which describes a dynamic pricing pilot that tested customers’ responsiveness to several dynamic pricing, technology, and information treatments. Greg Duncan, a Brattle principal, and senior consultant Lisa Cameron will discuss regulatory issues and present “Pole Attachment Economics: A Shapley Value Approach,” an important business issue but one not commonly investigated by economists. Dr. Faruqui, associate Doug Mitarotonda, and senior associate Ryan Hledik will be speaking on conservation rates and presenting “The Economics of Inclining Block Rates,” a practice that has been recently adopted by electric utilities and commissions.
