Brattle Consultants to Speak at Florence School of Regulation Training Course on Gas Regulation in Brazil

Brattle principal Dan Harris and senior associate Toby Brown have been invited to present as guest lecturers at the Florence School of Regulation’s upcoming gas regulation training course, taking place March 18-20, 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The regulatory course covers the training needs of the Brazilian regulator in natural gas, ANP (Agência Nacional do Petroleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis). Aimed at the staff of ANP, the course provides a complete perspective of gas market regulation, taking into account the diversity of practices through case studies from various regions around the world.

Mr. Harris and Dr. Brown will present during the second module of the course, which will discuss three specific challenges of natural gas regulation: transport tariffs methodology, the use of auction mechanisms to allocate infrastructure capacity, and the relationship between the natural gas and electricity industries. Mr. Harris will give a lecture on “Gas transport tariffs: The UK case,” and Dr. Brown will speak on the “U.S. Long-Term Case for Infrastructure Actions” and the “U.S./Canada Case for the Natural Gas and Electricity Industries.”
