Brattle Experts to Present at Canadian Bar Association Competition Law Fall Conference

Brattle principal Renée Duplantis and academic advisor Joshua Gans will speak at the upcoming Canadian Bar Association (CBA) Competition Law Fall Conference, taking place October 1-2, 2015 in Ottawa, Canada.

The conference will feature presentations on Canadian competition law enforcement and policy, and challenges regulatory officials face as global businesses continue to innovate at a rapid pace.

Dr. Duplantis will present in the session, “A New World Order? Implications of the Supreme Court’s Decision in Tervita for Mergers,” which will discuss how the decision provided guidance on topics such as the law of prevention of competition, the requirement that quantifiable anti-competitive effects be quantified, and the treatment of non-notifiable mergers. The panel will also discuss what Tervita may mean for the future of merger review in Canada.

Prof. Gans will present in the panel session, "Scholars Panel: Disruptive Business Models: Is Canadian Competition Law Keeping Up with Technological Change? Can It?" discussing the impact of innovation and disruptive business models such as Netflix, AirBnB, and Uber on the Canadian competitive landscape.
