Joshua Gans to Speak at the Sixth Annual Lear Conference on the Economics of Competition Law

Brattle academic advisor Joshua Gans will be a keynote speaker at the “6th Lear Conference on the Economics of Competition Law: Antitrust Economics 2.0,” taking place June 25-26, 2015 in Rome, Italy.

The conference will feature experts from the world’s top universities and law firms, as well as members of governments and the private sector, who will debate how the internet is shaping economic practice, competition between firms, and antitrust enforcement. Discussion will cover a wide range of topics, including competition among electronic platforms, access to personal data, vertical restraints in e-commerce, and competition in the search engine market, among others.

Dr. Gans will present on “Personal Data and Competition,” in which he will discuss the value of consumer data for marketers and firms, and the arising debate over whether firms that hold and control the highest volume of quality personal data on consumers are using potentially anticompetitive practices.
