Brattle Principal and Distinguished Financial Economist Stewart Myers Awarded Honorary Degree from Lancaster University

Stewart Myers, a Brattle principal and the Robert C. Merton Professor of Financial Economics at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, was recently awarded an Honorary Degree from Lancaster University (UK). The Doctor of Science degree was presented to Professor Myers during a ceremony for the conferment of degrees, which took place on December 12th, 2012. Professor Myers advises major corporations on mergers and acquisitions, capital investment decisions, methods of financing, measurement of the cost of capital, and valuations. He has appeared as an expert witness in major cases and regulatory proceedings, and his work has spanned a wide range of industries, including oil and gas pipelines, telecommunications, software, railroads, pharmaceuticals, insurance, and banking. The former President of the American Finance Association, Professor Myers is the co-author (with Richard A. Brealey and Franklin Allen) of the leading graduate-level textbook on corporate finance.
