Securities and Commercial Litigation Expert Paul Hinton Joins The Brattle Group

The Brattle Group announced today that securities and commercial litigation expert Paul Hinton has joined the firm’s New York office as a Principal in the Litigation and Finance Practice.

Mr. Hinton has over 15 years of experience in economic consulting in a wide range of advisory and testifying engagements in connection with securities and finance litigation, commercial and contract disputes, bankruptcy, and product liability. He has testified in such matters in litigation, international arbitration, and before legislative committees. In securities litigation, Mr. Hinton has developed analyses to assess liability, causation, and damages, often to quantify the impact of company-specific and market-wide events on securities prices. He has also consulted in finance, banking, and commercial litigation cases involving fiduciary claims, the valuation and analysis of the performance of assets and liabilities, entire business operations, complex derivative securities, structured products, specific disputed contractual terms, and embedded intellectual property.

Mr. Hinton has significant experience in product liability matters, and has estimated the value of future personal injury claims associated with silicone breast implants, asbestos, pharmaceuticals, and other products. He has also performed product liability valuation analyses involving corporate risk management, bankruptcy estimation, insurance coverage disputes, fraudulent conveyance actions, corporate litigation, policy analysis, and regulation.

“We established our New York office to bring us closer to our large base of local clients. We are excited by the enthusiastic reception we have received as we continue to grow our presence. Paul expands our capabilities in securities and other litigation and brings with him a reputation of exceptional client service,” said Alexis Maniatis, President of The Brattle Group.

Prior to joining Brattle, Mr. Hinton was a Vice President at NERA Economic Consulting. He previously worked in Project Finance at the London-based investment bank Morgan Grenfell and at the European Commission Delegation in Budapest. He holds a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a B.A. in Engineering Science from Oxford University.
