Recent developments at the Supreme Court are changing the landscape for securities litigation. For instance, the 2013 Amgen opinion leaves open the possibility that it may in the future reconsider the fraud-on-the-market presumption of reliance. Such developments will pose challenges to plaintiffs and defendants alike.

To meet these challenges, Brattle has expanded its securities litigation team with the addition of principals Paul Hinton in New York and Torben Voetmann in San Francisco.



Paul joined the firm’s newly established New York office in May. With over 15 years of experience in economic consulting in a wide range of advisory and testifying engagements related to securities and finance litigation, Paul’s addition to our team expands our capabilities in securities and allows us to provide local support to our many clients based in New York City.

Torben joined our growing San Francisco office in July. He focuses his practice on cases that involve complex economic and financial issues. He is experienced in all phases of litigation and has directed research in various prominent matters, including In re AOL Time Warner Inc. Securities Litigation and In re Apollo Securities Litigation.His prior consulting work in complex and high-profile matters complements our internationally recognized team of finance and litigation experts
