Andrew Jackson

Dr. Jackson is an Associate Professor in the University of New South Wales (UNSW) School of Accounting, Auditing & Taxation. He specializes in financial accounting, financial statement analysis, and valuation.

His academic research examines earnings co-movements and the decomposition of earnings into market, industry, and firm-specific components, with implications for forecasting future earnings and the valuation of assets. Dr. Jackson also studies how accounting information is used by capital market participants, including issues related to corporate disclosure, stock return volatility, earnings timeliness, and asset pricing. His research has appeared in numerous academic journals, including the Review of Accounting Studies, European Accounting Review, British Accounting Review, and Journal of Management Accounting Research.

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Jackson has served as an expert witness in a Federal Court of Australia matter involving materiality, submitting expert and joint expert reports and providing trial testimony.

At UNSW, Dr. Jackson serves as Deputy Head of School (Research). His teaching focuses on financial accounting, financial statement analysis, accounting research, and business valuation and analysis at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Dr. Jackson is a member of the Academic Advisory Panel of the Australian Accounting Standards Board and previously served as Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Journal of Management. He has also held leadership roles with the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ), including President (Australia). Prior to joining UNSW, he taught at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand.
