Dr. Vansteenkiste is a Sydney Horizon Fellow and Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of Sydney Business School.

An expert in corporate finance and governance, her work focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate philanthropy, sustainable finance, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. Her current research examines the drivers of corporate philanthropy and its role in addressing societal challenges, including climate change, disaster response, sustainability, and public health.

An Associate Editor at the Journal of Multinational Financial Management, Dr. Vansteenkiste’s research has been published in leading finance journals, including the Journal of Finance, Journal of International Business Studies, Review of Finance, and Journal of Corporate Finance, and has been featured in outlets such as the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and the Australian Financial Review. Her recent work includes studies of targeted philanthropy in M&A transactions, informed acquirers and M&A outcomes, and employment policies in cross-border acquisitions. 

Prior to joining the University of Sydney, Dr. Vansteenkiste was a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Business School. She earned her PhD in Finance from Tilburg University and was a Visiting Researcher at Harvard University’s John M. Olin Center for Law, Economics, and Business.
