Dr. Johannesson applies his background in economics, finance, and accounting to complex business questions and litigation, specializing in Securities Act and Securities Exchange Act litigation, valuation and accounting matters, commercial damages, and alternative investments.

Having worked with leading scholars for over 15 years, Dr. Johannesson has extensive expertise in financial statement analysis and the interpretation of accounting constructs, as well as in financial forecasting, valuation, and event study methodology. In his academic career, Dr. Johannesson taught GAAP measurement and reporting, financial statement analysis, and related topics. He has published peer-reviewed research on topics related to both accounting and financial economics and has presented his research at leading academic institutions, such as Yale, the University of Southern California, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the University of North Carolina.

Dr. Johannesson has provided testimony in court proceedings on financial statement analysis, valuation, lost profits, and damages related to securitized instruments. His litigation experience includes securities class actions, corporate valuations, analyses of special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs) and initial public offering (IPO) transactions, and matters requiring assessment of causation or damages.

Prior to joining The Brattle Group, Dr. Johannesson was a Manager at an international economic consulting firm, a full-time faculty member at City University of New York, and a visiting scholar at New York University’s Stern School of Business. He currently serves as an advisory board member of a fintech company.
