Dr. Sabbioni is an economist with over 15 years of experience specializing in antitrust and competition issues as well as in arbitration matters.

He has provided expert witness services in the context of international arbitration cases before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), as well as in mergers and market investigations before the Argentine Competition Commission (CNDC).

Dr. Sabbioni’s consulting services have included the estimation of damages caused by breach of contract, analyses of the economic effects of mergers and acquisitions on competition, and the economic effects of regulatory changes and anticompetitive conduct. His work has covered a variety of industries, including transportation services, paper mills, telecommunications, oil and gas, insurance, aviation, ground handling, petrochemicals, and others.

Previously a Partner with an economic consultancy in Buenos Aires, Dr. Sabbioni has also held several academic appointments. He was a Visiting Professor at the business school of Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires and, at Universidad Católica Argentina, served as Director of the economics department, the undergraduate economics degree program, and the Doctorate in Business Administration program.

Dr. Sabbioni has published in the International Antitrust Bulletin, Utilities Policy, Economía e Instituciones, and in Argentine newspapers such as Clarin, Cronista, Perfil, and Infobae.

He held several academic appointments. He was a Visiting Professor at the business school of Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires and, at Universidad Católica Argentina, served as Director of the economics department, the undergraduate economics degree program, and the Doctorate in Business Administration program.

In 2019 he won an Open Public Competition for a Membership Position with the Board of Directors of the Natural Gas Regulator of Argentina (ENARGAS).

In 2002 he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship.

He is married to Carolina and has two kids: Francisca and Santiago.

Transportation company from Paraguay v. British commodities trading company
Cámara de Arbitraje y Mediación (Arbitraje CAMP), Asunción, Paraguay Wrote an Expert Report on behalf of a British commodities trading company, calculating damages to a transportation company from Paraguay in the context of a take-or-pay clause included in a transportation and warehousing services contract.
Argentine oil producer v. Argentine oil refiner
International Chamber of Commerce, Buenos Aires Calculated damages to an Argentine oil producer derived from invoices partially paid by an argentine refining company, in the context of a disagreement on the applicable price according to a supply agreement. Analyzed a damages calculation by the refining company’s expert witness, as a result of an alleged shortage in the supply of oil by the producer. Submitted three expert reports and provided testimony during the hearing in Buenos Aires.
