Mr. MacKenzie leads Brattle’s Data Engineering team, the firm’s technology research and development engine, building defensible data systems for high-stakes economic and regulatory matters.

Since joining the firm in 2015, he has shaped and scaled Data Engineering into a core competency across Brattle’s practice areas. He designs and oversees end-to-end data infrastructure, integrating generative AI where it enhances rigor while maintaining transparency and reproducibility. He ensures responsible AI adoption through governance, documentation, training, and audit controls, with a particular focus on litigation and regulatory scrutiny.

In client engagements, Mr. MacKenzie partners with project teams and clients to define data strategy and manage execution from production through analysis, routinely handling terabyte- to petabyte-scale structured and unstructured datasets. His team deploys internally developed systems and workflows, with practical lessons feeding back into ongoing research and development.

His work has supported data-intensive matters involving antitrust and market manipulation, securities and cryptocurrency trading, fraud and collusion investigations, money laundering and sanctions evasion, and large-scale review of documents and networked communications.
