Mr. Klotz is an expert in bankruptcy and insolvency, restructuring, and intellectual property matters. He has almost three decades of experience evaluating and executing major transactions around the world.

Throughout his career, Mr. Klotz has specialized in structuring and leading distressed asset investments, divestments, financings, and restructurings. He has orchestrated both US-based and cross-border transactions in various industries, including in the retail, commercial, industrial, and intellectual property sectors. Over the last 15 years, Mr. Klotz’s core focus has been on assuming principal risk as an investor and lender across more than 40 countries, spanning North America, Europe, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand, the Middle East, and Africa. During this time, he also gained substantial expertise in the valuation of assets under the net orderly and force liquidation value methodologies.

Mr. Klotz’s expertise extends to all kinds of movable tangible and intangible assets, particularly as they relate to consumer intellectual property. He was part of the team that developed the current industry-leading valuation models that asset-based lenders across the globe rely upon to lend against consumer brands and related royalty streams as standalone collateral.

Prior to joining Brattle, Mr. Klotz was a Senior Managing Director at a global distressed investment, restructuring, and valuation firm, where he was responsible for cross-border transactions and global expansion. Before becoming an investment professional, he practiced law at leading corporate firms, with a concentration in bankruptcy, insolvency, secured and debtor-in-possession (DIP) financings, and distressed M&A transactions.
