Wherever…
New York City
Emma makes it to New York City just in time! She sees the Times Square ball drop, enjoys a slice of pizza, and reflects on all the great things to come in the new year.

Boston
Emma passes the drive by listening to podcasts about the economic effects of holiday cookie consumption and reciting digits of Pi. She decides to make a quick stop at Brattle's headquarters in Boston to take a break… and enjoy a slice of Boston cream pie… before finishing her journey.

Toronto
Due to some snowy weather, Emma's plane to the East Coast is diverted to Toronto. Fortunately, Brattle has an office there too, and her colleagues help her find a snack at St. Lawrence Market and secure a rental car to finish the last leg of the journey… Plus a Maple Leafs jersey to stay warm, of course.

San Francisco
Emma decides to break up her long journey back to New York by stopping over and visiting our San Francisco office. While enjoying a celebratory drink with colleagues, Emma spills on her blazer 🙁 Expertly calculating damages to the garment, she determines it is a sunk cost and moves on to catch her next flight.

Sydney
After receiving a last-minute client request, Emma needs to go the extra mile to gather a late-breaking exhibit from our Sydney office. After a long trip sustained only by a mysteriously beige meal, she lands in sunny Sydney and appreciatively gathers the needed materials to submit the final report.

Paris
With the report nearly complete, Emma just needs to debrief another expert in our recently opened Paris office. She takes the train over, with a brief stop for a café crème with colleagues. The report is almost finalized and ready!

London
Emma visits London, Brattle's first European office, to conduct the final check of a report with her talented project team. Reviewing calculations over crumpets, they think they spot a typo but realize it was just a crumb, and agree that the analysis is clear and well thought out.

Wherever your travels take you in 2023,
we hope the year is filled with
happiness, success, and good health.
There is no shortage of unicorn lists, but these tallies leave key questions unanswered for policymakers:
What are the outcomes? How and when are unicorns exiting?
Until recently, systematic analysis of these questions was premature. Now, however, a critical mass of companies have been unicorns long enough to identify some patterns that may help policymakers and others understand better this relatively new and evolving market.
The joint report dives into the data, unearthing some unexpected outcomes – including many success stories and valuations that might surprise outsiders.
