Brattle and UC Hastings will cohost a panel discussion on unicorn companies as part of “The Unicorn Initiative,” a joint research project by the UC Hastings Center for Business Law and The Brattle Group.
There is no shortage of lists highlighting unicorn companies, privately-held startups that are valued at over $1 billion, but these tallies leave key questions unanswered for policymakers: What are the outcomes? How and when are unicorns exiting? What is the nature and frequency of unicorn litigation? Until recently, systematic analysis of these questions was premature, but now, a critical mass of companies have been unicorns long enough to identify some patterns that may help policymakers and others better understand this relatively new and evolving market.
Panelists include:
- UC Hastings Law Professor Abraham Cable
- Executive Director of the UC Hastings Center for Business Law Evan Epstein
- Brattle Associate Adrienna Huffman
- Cooley Partner Rachel Proffitt
- DCVC Partner Ali Tamaseb
- US Securities and Exchange Commission Associate Regional Director Monique Winkler
