Dr. Long Lam was quoted in a recent Inside Climate News article on the findings from a recent Brattle contribution to a Berkeley Lab report assessing recent trends in electricity prices across the US.

The report documents historical pricing changes at the national and state levels, identifies the key drivers of those changes, and uses several state-specific case studies to further illustrate the findings. Dr. Lam noted, “We know that if a state or utility relies on gas generation in order to meet demand for electricity, then the price of natural gas is going to drive the price for electricity, as that increase in gas price is going to be passed on to the end users.”

Recent Retail Electricity Price Trends: What Do We Know… or Think We Know?” includes contributions from Principal Ryan Hledik, Managing Energy Associate Long Lam, and Energy Specialist Audrey Yan.
