The Brattle Group is pleased to announce that Principal David J. Hutchings has been elected as Brattle’s Interim President, effective September 7, 2022.

Based in Brattle’s Toronto office, Mr. Hutchings has been affiliated with the firm since 2009. Throughout his Brattle tenure, Mr. Hutchings has grown his consulting practice while also holding numerous firm leadership roles of increasing magnitude, including leading the Toronto office from 2020–2021 and joining Brattle’s Board of Directors in early 2022.

In his consulting practice, Mr. Hutchings focuses on conducting economic analysis in matters related to tax, securities, commercial damages, and antitrust and competition. With extensive experience in tax disputes and transfer pricing matters, he has assisted experts and attorneys for both taxpayers and taxing authorities.

Outside of Brattle, he has been an active volunteer at MIT by interviewing prospective applicants, co-chairing a capital campaign, and assisting with administering a fund for residences. Mr. Hutchings holds a JD and an MA in Economics from the University of Toronto, as well as undergraduate degrees in Economics and Mathematics from MIT.

He succeeds Dr. David L. Sunding, who will be leaving Brattle to pursue other opportunities. The firm appreciates Dr. Sunding’s many years with the firm, including his time serving as President and as a member of Brattle’s Board of Directors.
