Principal Johannes Pfeifenberger was quoted in a recent RTO Insider article on federal funding for MISO and SPP’s Joint Targeted Interconnection Queue (JTIQ) portfolio. Though the US Department of Energy announced it was revoking its grant for the transmission projects, the $1.7 billion portfolio remains intact, and MISO and the Minnesota Department of Commerce confirm that the projects are moving forward and proceeding as planned.

Mr. Pfeifenberger appealed for more interregional transmission planning during the Midwestern Governors Association’s webinar on transmission benefits in December. He praised MISO’s and SPP’s effort, noting that the JTIQ transmission solutions “can create interconnection headroom more cheaply than in individual interconnection queues.”
