Brattle Experts Discuss Brattle’s Benefit-Cost Analysis Framework for Managed EV Charging in Presentation to the Department of Energy (DOE) EVGrid Assist Technical Advisory Group
Principal Dr. Sanem Sergici and Senior Energy Associate Dr. Goksin Kavlak recently presented Brattle’s benefit-cost analysis framework for managed electric vehicle (EV) charging to the Department of Energy (DOE) EVGrid Assist Technical Advisory Group.
Brattle has been conducting benefit-cost analyses (BCA) of transportation electrification programs (including managed EV charging) for utilities and managed charging providers across many jurisdictions by applying jurisdiction-specific frameworks and relying on the firm’s expertise in EV modeling. Brattle experts recently analyzed a range of programs – including active managed charging, passive managed charging (TOU rates and off-peak charging incentives), and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) programs – for Pepco, Salt River Project, Xcel Energy, and Baltimore Gas & Electricity. Based on previous BCAs, Brattle experts have identified several important considerations in conducting BCAs for managed EV charging programs, which they discuss in their presentation.
