Natalie Northrup

Energy Research Associate | Boston
MIT

I first heard about Brattle through one of my undergraduate professors, who had collaborated with the firm and knew I was interested in the energy industry. I was looking for a role that would allow me to explore energy-related issues without diving too narrowly into one field, and my professor recommended Brattle as the perfect fit. Before joining the firm, I interned at Voltus, where I supported operations for demand response programs, and held several research positions at MIT, focused on topics like network modeling, life cycle assessment, and environmental mapping. These experiences sparked my interest in energy systems, and when I spoke with current analysts at Brattle about the kinds of projects they were working on – especially around decarbonization, electric vehicle (EV) adoption, and system reliability planning – I knew it was the right place for me.

Now, in my full-time role, I work on projects addressing some of the most pressing challenges in the energy sector. I analyze how storage resources can provide system value, contribute to grid reliability, and help shape better market designs. My day-to-day involves a mix of research, quantitative analysis using tools like R, Excel, and GAMS, and preparing materials to share insights with our team and clients.

One of my favorite parts of the job is the creative problem-solving that goes into building new models from scratch – I enjoy thinking through how to structure an analysis from start to finish. I also love the strong sense of community at Brattle, from casual office conversations to participating in our kickball team. Looking ahead, my long-term goal is to continue growing at Brattle and ultimately become a Principal.

Eli LoCicero

Senior Associate | Washington, DC
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, University of Georgia

I first learned about Brattle during my PhD studies at UNC-Chapel Hill through conversations with recent graduates who had joined the firm. Their positive experiences and enthusiasm for the work inspired me to explore economic consulting more seriously. My academic background, particularly in empirical industrial organization and competition, gave me a strong foundation in research and analysis, which I now apply directly to my casework. What ultimately drew me to Brattle was the combination of intellectually engaging projects, particularly in antitrust and competition, and the welcoming, sharp individuals I met during the interview process. It was clear that Brattle offered not only high-profile work but also a collaborative and supportive environment.

In my current role as a Senior Associate, I manage teams of talented analysts and work closely with internal experts and leading academics to conduct research and design economic analyses. I enjoy the balance between technical problem-solving and the leadership responsibilities that come with guiding a team and interacting with clients. The most rewarding part of my job is working on complex, real-world problems alongside a thoughtful and driven team.

Looking ahead, I aim to deepen my expertise in antitrust economics while continuing to broaden my experience across different industries. I’m also committed to mentoring junior staff and contributing to Brattle’s continued leadership in the economic consulting space.

Andy Zacharjasz

Senior Associate | London
Warwick Business School, University of Warwick

I discovered Brattle while researching opportunities in economic consulting and was immediately drawn to its strong reputation and unique structure – being privately owned with a flat hierarchy suggested a collaborative, long-term approach to both client work and internal development. My academic background includes an undergraduate degree in Economics and a master’s in finance and economics from the University of Warwick, during which I also completed a summer internship in M&A consulting and volunteered in Morocco. These experiences helped shape my passion for intellectually challenging, globally relevant work and fostered a deep appreciation for cross-cultural collaboration –values that continue to guide me today.

When I interviewed at Brattle, what ultimately convinced me to join was the people. The individuals I met were thoughtful, approachable, and genuinely curious, and those early conversations gave me a real sense of the firm’s culture. Accepting the offer felt like a natural next step—and seven years later, I’m still excited by the work we do.

Today, I’m a Senior Associate in Brattle’s International Arbitration practice, specializing in corporate finance and valuations across global investor-state and commercial disputes. My work involves everything from managing analysts and building financial models to drafting expert reports and advising clients on complex economic and regulatory issues. I’ve worked on valuations and risk assessments for energy and infrastructure assets across multiple continents, and also supported clients in navigating European Commission State Aid approvals and merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions.

What I enjoy most is the collaborative problem-solving – working closely with talented colleagues to address complex questions and clearly communicate our findings. Looking ahead, I aim to become a recognized expert in finance and valuation, contribute to Brattle’s thought leadership, and mentor the next generation of consultants while continuing to work across a broad range of impactful, challenging projects.
