The Brattle Group Named “Outstanding Firm for Competition Economics” by Global Competition Review in GCR 100 2026 Rankings
The Brattle Group has once again been recognized by Global Competition Review (GCR) as one of the world’s top firms for competition economics, named in the “Economics – Outstanding” category of the “GCR 100 2026” rankings.
GCR highlighted the combination of academic and enforcement agency expertise at the firm, including former senior officials from competition authorities in the US and UK. The firm has over 60 competition specialists located across two continents, and three outstanding economists lead the practice:

Among notable transactions worked on in GCR’s 2024–2025 research period, Brattle recently advised on the $5 billion merger between Tempur Sealy and Mattress Firm, providing economic analysis and expert testimony through two years of regulatory review and trial proceedings before the deal closed following a US court ruling against the Federal Trade Commission’s challenge. Additionally, the team supported industry experts in the review of the Kroger/Albertsons merger, which drew significant scrutiny from US antitrust authorities and eventually collapsed in the face of opposition.
Litigation highlights included providing testimony in defense of car carrier MOL in a 10-week cartel trial at the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT), and providing analysis as well as supporting testimony on behalf of the Department of Justice (DOJ) in its high-profile case against Google. In United States of America, et al. v. Google LLC, the DOJ, supported by Brattle’s experts, achieved a landmark ruling after a 2024 trial with a federal court judge finding that the tech giant illegally monopolized ad tech markets.
