Why Be a Brattle Research Analyst?

Research Analysts (RAs) at Brattle are critical members of project teams and work directly with experts in a collaborative and collegial atmosphere. As an RA, you will build your knowledge and skills through both hands-on and formal training and apply what you’ve learned in school to help clients solve complex problems.

You will create robust economic and financial models, formulate compelling written deliverables, and conceptualize project work. You may coauthor a publication or be part of a presentation to clients or other audiences. Some RAs focus on developing expertise in a particular industry area, while others seek exposure to as many types of projects as possible.

At Brattle you will find diverse, intellectually challenging project experiences, and hone your skills to achieve professional success. Discovering where your interests lie will prepare you for the next step in your journey, whether that’s at Brattle, another professional position, or pursuing an advanced degree at a top-ranked school.

What We Look For

We are looking for RA candidates who are excited about the prospect of working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment where you’re able to apply what you’ve learned to solve interesting problems in unique ways. Our consultants are curious and eager to learn. They enjoy brainstorming and finding creative solutions to complex problems – and they don’t rest until they succeed.

Successful RAs have a strong quantitative background and have completed comprehensive coursework in economics, mathematics, engineering, operations research, computer science, or statistics. The most successful applicants possess the ability to comfortably interact with other team members and with clients. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, dedicated to going that extra mile to ensure the highest quality of work, flexible, energized by the dynamic nature of consulting, and fun and interesting to be around.

Charles Blanton

Senior Research Analyst | San Francisco
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill

I first learned about economic consulting during an Industrial Organization course in college, but my real introduction to the field came while leading backpacking trips in Northern California. Over a campfire, I had a memorable conversation with a Brattle consultant on sabbatical, who shared insights into the industry and his experiences at the firm. That conversation stayed with me as I continued my studies in economics at UNC Chapel Hill, where I was involved as a teaching assistant, an honors thesis student, and the founder of the university’s outing club. I later interned at Brattle, working on expert witness reports in securities class action and competition cases – an experience that solidified my interest in the firm’s high-impact work and collaborative environment.

I accepted a full-time offer at Brattle because I was genuinely drawn to the intellectual rigor of the work and the supportive culture. I appreciated the challenge of contributing to high-stakes cases and the thoughtfulness of the people I met.

Now, as a Senior Research Analyst, I focus primarily on competition matters – handling data, running analyses, and managing junior team members. I also stay involved in the firm’s broader community through technical training, recruiting, and BProud, Brattle’s LGBTQ+ employee resource group. The most rewarding part of my job has been the mentorship I’ve received – from formal check-ins with my mentor to everyday technical guidance from more senior analysts. That support has played a key role in my growth and success at the firm.

“I accepted a full-time offer at Brattle because I was genuinely drawn to the intellectual rigor of the work and the supportive culture.”

Folarin Bandele

Senior Research Analyst | Chicago
St. Olaf College, Brown University

I first learned about Brattle when I turned to my school’s career center to explore opportunities that aligned with my background in research and data methodologies. They suggested economic consulting, and through that path, I discovered Brattle as a major player in the field. My real connection to the firm, however, came during an info session led by then–Senior RA Clara Livingston, whose presentation on Brattle’s casework and collaborative culture left a strong impression. Before joining Brattle full-time, I interned at Mondelez International as a Sales Analyst and worked closely with professors on academic research projects – including one focused on student success in college. I eventually interned at Brattle after my senior year, which solidified my decision to return full-time.

What set Brattle apart for me was the level of care and investment in the internship program. From structured training sessions to the Buddy system and exposure to real client work, I felt fully supported and challenged in ways that made me excited to grow with the firm.

Today, I work closely with teams of RAs and Associates to prepare materials for expert testimony, and I also contribute to academic publications, train new hires, and help with recruiting efforts. While I enjoy the professional development that comes with working on complex and varied projects, the best part of my job is the meaningful friendships I’ve built with my colleagues. Looking ahead, I’m still figuring out my long-term path, but one dream is to combine my love for sports and data – ideally working in a strategy role with a professional team, much like Ian Graham did for Liverpool F.C.

“From structured training sessions to the Buddy system and exposure to real client work, I felt fully supported and challenged in ways that made me excited to grow with the firm.”

Begona Duran

Research Analyst | Madrid
London School of Economics

I first learned about Brattle during a career orientation event while I was pursuing my master’s degree. At the time, I was looking to apply my background in economics in a more hands-on, analytical setting. Before joining Brattle, I spent two years working in central banking, which gave me a strong foundation in economic policy and financial systems. When I interviewed at Brattle, I was drawn not only to the challenging and intellectually stimulating work but also to the people I met throughout the process. The emphasis on growth, learning, and collaboration made it an easy decision to accept the full-time offer.

Now, as a Research Analyst, I collaborate on building financial models to value assets involved in arbitration disputes across a wide range of industries. The work is dynamic and intellectually engaging, offering a constant stream of opportunities to learn something new.

What I enjoy most about my role is the team I work with – their support, knowledge, and openness make a big difference day to day. I also appreciate the variety of topics we cover, which keeps the work fresh and exciting. Looking ahead, I hope to continue building my expertise in economic analysis and contribute to developing innovative solutions that can have a global impact.
