Dr. Crespo Montañés specializes in residential electrification, hybrid renewable-storage systems, and equitable energy transitions.
She advises system operators and utilities on electrification strategy, distributed energy resource integration, and long-term resource planning. Previously, Dr. Crespo Montañés worked as a researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where she developed optimization models for hybrid renewable-plus-storage systems and coauthored studies on storage market valuation, residential distributed resource adoption in the US, and solar adoption as a tool for reducing energy poverty. Her prior experience also includes roles at the Spanish utility Iberdrola and the Energy Systems Department at the Technical University of Denmark.
A former Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Crespo Montañés has published in Nature Communications, Energy Policy, Applied Energy, and Joule, and her work has been cited in academic and trade literature. Her latest research – currently under review in Nature Energy – analyzes the fine-scale spatial impacts of home electrification on the electric grid in California.
