Dr. da Silva Rosa is a Professor of Finance at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Business School, and an expert in corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and behavioral finance.

He has been retained as an expert witness in more than 25 Australian legal proceedings involving contested corporate control, share market issues, and price reactions to information, including serving as a materiality expert in the landmark Southernwood v Brambles Ltd shareholder class action. His consulting work, including industry-commissioned research, has addressed matters including takeover activity, continuous disclosure, capital markets regulation, corporate directors’ remuneration, initial public offerings, and rate-of-return regulation.

Dr. da Silva Rosa’s academic research focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate control, the role of networks in capital markets, and the impact of natural disasters on individuals’ investment choices. His work has been published in leading finance, accounting, and law journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, Accounting & Finance, Australian Journal of Management, and the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal. He is a member of the editorial boards of Accounting & Finance and the Meditari Accountancy Research Journal.

At UWA, Dr. da Silva Rosa’s previous roles include Chair of the Academic Board, Head of the Accounting & Finance Department, and Associate Dean. He is a former President of the Accounting & Finance Association of Australia & New Zealand, and has been a Visiting Scholar and Visiting Associate Professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business, a Senior Visiting Fellow at Melbourne Business School, and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney.
