Andrew Levitt and Dr. Long Lam Interviewed by Energy Storage News about the Future of PJM Interconnection
In an interview with Energy Storage News, Senior Consultant Andrew Levitt and Managing Energy Associate Dr. Long Lam discussed how large load additions impact existing customer rates and how unprecedented projections of load growth will impact PJM Interconnection.
Recently, PJM Interconnection has proposed three distinct pathways to ensure resource procurement, cost management, and the integration of new technologies.
On the pathways, Levitt noted: “I think they’re all adequately suited to meeting load growth in different ways. Some require more central administration of resource investment, so they’ll be heavier on the states. Others are a lighter touch, and there will be strong enough market signals that they can drive an efficient resource mix.”
Dr. Lam added: “A big focus should be on making sure that load forecasts are accurate, that the supply that is procured is actually going to be used to meet that load.”
